APPLE 🍎 & PERSIMMON SALAD WITH TOASTED PECANS with LEVANT ᪥

Persimmons are our favorite autumn/winter treats! They are in season from October through January. What to look for: Two common varieties are Hachiya and Fuyu; they differ slightly in appearance but have unique textures and flavours.

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup of pecans (*or walnuts)
  • 2 tablespoons of orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon sherry vinegar
  • 1 table spoon olive oil
  • 3x ripe sweet apples (rinsed, cored & thinly sliced lengthwise)
  • 3x firm-ripe fuyu persimmons (rinsed and thinly sliced lengthwise)
  • Maldon Salt
  • LEVANT Liquid Activated Spice

Steps: 

  • This autumnal/winter salad is so delicious and nutritious! 
  • Bake the pecans/walnuts or toast them on a pan, until they are golden.
  • Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine orange juice, vinegar and olive oil. Add apples, persimmons and toasted pecans/walnuts and mix to coat.
  • Add a pinch of maldon salt to taste.
  • Finish off with a couple drops 5-10 of LEVANT Liquid Activated Spice. 
  • Congratulations, you have prepared a delicious appetizer or side dish!
